Pat Boothman
ABOUT
Pat has enjoyed an international career, performing in theatre, radio, television and film, as well as directing plays and teaching drama, in London, Toronto, Hong Kong and Cape Town. She trained at Teacher’s Training College in Cape Town, George Brown College in Toronto (Drama) and Oxford (BADA Drama).
Her theatre credits are many but, highlights include Three Tall Women in Toronto, many comedies including How the Other Half Loves also in Toronto, Blithe Spirit (she played Madam Arcati), Inherit the Wind at London’s Old Vic and Ella’s Secret, a two-hander, in which she performed and produced at London’s Barons Court Theatre. She has appeared in a Tesco’s Christmas commercial, shorts films including Baghead and been on a number of voice-overs and radio programmes.

DON QUIXOTE

Pat has been cast in the lead/title roles in a development feature film production of Don Quixote also starring Method Actor Matteo Pasquini as her sidekick Sanchez.
The film is not just a depiction of probably Spain’s most famous classical character and book created 250 years ago by Cervantes but also the creation of an entire artistic style.
It’s heavily arthouse and abstract as the clip below will indicate; intended to trigger an emotional rather than analytical response.
As with director Alexander Fodor’s much acclaimed production of Hamlet: Fodor’s Hamlet Feature Film characters are cast according to energy rather than sex so it may come as no surprise to Fodor followers that Don Q is not a man but a woman Pat Boothman.
Now the short has been shot it’s intended to attract funding to support the production’s development.

Earlier this year Pat performed to sell out audiences at the Esher Theatre in Surrey, London playing a variety of roles in this pithy comedy.
The production was well received.

DON QUIXOTE
In addition to her recent production of A Coy Mistress Pat is also working on an arthouse web series production playing the title role of Don Quixote. The project is an ambitious one and will be filmed over a series of months.
Both the setting and the method of filming will be very different to the classic Cervantes book, set as it is on a narrowboat on the River Lea in North East London and involving a filming style where the camera operators and crew will form part of the production. It is the brainchild of award winning director Alexander Fodor.

Pat’s most recent film is already an award winner having won the TriForceFest competition to achieve funding.

a striking contrast to her usual casting but the director was taken by the potential shown in her showreel.

ANKOMN INFORMMERCIAL
This sees Pat sharing food preserving tips as part of of promotion for the vacuum food container produced by Ankomn. As well as herself the commercial featured Pat’s dog Molly! (clip)
CHIP IN THE SUGAR
Pat also enjoyed playing the lead role of Mam in a short adaptation of Alan Bennett’s CHIP IN THE SUGAR , under award winning director Claudio Ravanelli (clip)
ELLA'S SECRET
Ella’s Secret by Harris Freedman.
In 2016 Pat played the title role of Ella in this production in which she not only performed but also produced at London’s prestigious Baron’s Court Theatre.
The play centres around two women whose lives have been affected by the same Nazi-SS officer.
The production re-established her already solid artistic relationship with Edward Davies as director and Peggy Mahon who she played opposite in this enigmatic two hander.
